…vehicles involved in a multiple road crash
LASEMA in one of it’s recently concluded operations rescued and treated three people, recovered one dead and several vehicles involved in a multiple road crash at the Otedola Bridge, inward Berger, Lagos today.
The multiple accident which involved a petrol tanker with registration number KRd 259 XR loaded with about 40, 000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS (petrol), which on scene investigation revealed, rammed into a Mazda bus with registration number KJA 581 XL, severely injuring two adult males and a child in the process, and a Volkswagen Golf car with registration number AAA 722 FU.
The injured three were subsequently attended to by the Agency’s officials and LASAMBUS medical team, before being taken to the Trauma Center for further treatment, while the remains of a yet to be identified adult female, that lost her life in the incident, was bagged by the Agency’s officials and later handed over to officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU.
The articulated and other vehicles involved in the road crash have since been recovered off the road by the LASEMA Response Team with the aid of the Agency’s Light Tow Truck, as well as a Hiab with responders from members of the Nigerian Police Force from Isheri and Alausa Divisions, FRSC, LASTMA and SEHMU collaborating with LRT.
Preliminary Report concerning the road traffic accident at Otedola bridge inward Berger 21st May, 2020 has it that, “Upon arrival of the LRT at the incident, it was discovered that a tanker loaded with PMS rammed into a bus and a car.
“2 (two) adult males and a child were severely injured by the impact and were attended to by the Agency’s officials, before being taken to Trauma Center for further treatment. Unfortunately, 1 (one) adult female lost her life at the scene and her remains have been transported to the mortuary.
“Recovery of the 3 affected vehicles from the road has been carried out by the Agency’s light tow truck”.
Previously, LASEMA Response Team equally recovered another articulated truck loaded with PMS involved in a lone accident at Mowo bus Stop, Pota village inward Ikoga Badagry Lagos
On scene investigation by the LASEMA Response Team revealed that the incident was as a result of mechanical failure in the truck’s engine, which led to a roll – back of the oil truck tanker while ascending a hill that eventually led to it’s getting stuck in a ditch by the side of the road.
Preliminay Report on the incident states that, “On getting to the scene of the incident it was discovered that a Mack truck with registration number T 848 LA loaded with PMS was involved in a lone accident which occurred at about 2:00am.
“Further investigation gathered at the scene of the incident revealed that accident was as a result of mechanical fault which was developed while the tanker was ascending the hill which caused the tanker to roll backwards and got stuck in the ditch by the side of the road.
“No loss of life nor injuries recorded at the scene of the incident
“The PMS in the accident truck, was transloaded into another tanker truck during the recovery exercise”.
