Bad Governance: Protesters Block Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ota

Scores of protesters have since 10am on Friday, October 16, 2020, blocked the ever busy Lagos/Abeokuta expressway in Ogun State, to register their displeasure over the bad governance in the state and Nigerians at large.
The rally distorted vehicular movements both inward and outward the corridor.

Majority of the aggrieved protesters, INFORMATION CARRIER gathered, assembled at Ado/Odo Local Government Secretariat before matched to the Joju Bus Stop of the expressway.

The peaceful rally is part of ongoing nationwide protests in registering uncertainties arising from insecurity, bad governance, brutality, infringement on human rights among others.

The protesters held different placards inscribe with different messages which include: “Buhari, fix our road, our health are deteriorating; we are tired of fake promised; give us our rights, youths are the leaders of tomorrow; bad roads are killing our businesses; bad people –  bad governance among others. They mounted a makeshift rostrium in the middle of the expressway to made their agitation known to the world.

They made it known to their listeners that their protest is mainly bad roads.

“Despite the fact that Ota is an industrial town where both Federal and state government get bulk of revenue, our roads are completely bad. The Idiroko/Sango road is not assessible presently. It is an international road bedecked with gullies.

“You cannot use your vehicle here because of bad roads. Trucks fall and kill us on daily basis because of bad roads. We shall be here as long as government decides to attend to us and address our plight. Away with bad governance leading to bad roads in Ota”

INFORMATION CARRIER reports that the protest have been under the vigilant monitoring of security personnel led by the Police Area Commander, Monday Agbonika; TRACE Area Commander, Adekunle Ajibade; Sango DPO Godwin Idehai and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and SO-SAFE Corps.
