As you read this, a war of the billionaires is set to take center stage.

This is because Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has indicated interest to buy English Premier League side, Arsenal Football Club.

Kalu in a tweet yesterday, said he was already making a bid for 35% shares of the club.

“Our success with Enyimba football club between 2000-2007 has continuously increased my passion for football. As the pillar of sports in Africa, I am considering an investment in football and I will buy 35 percent stake in Arsenal FC”, Kalu tweeted.

Kalu whose tenure as Abia State governor, saw Enyimba Football club of Aba lift the CAF champions league back to back, wrote: “Our target is to lift the Champions League and Premier League back to back as we did in Enyimba.”
But Nigerians and indeed sports lovers are saying that Kalu is setting the stage for a battle between him and Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

For over four years, Dangote has never hidden his desire to own Arsenal Football Club. Indeed, Dangote is plotting to make a bid for the club once he completes his refinery in Lagos in 2021.
