For the third times in less than 10 days, a Bullion van belonging to Bankers wharehouse have been impounded by the police in Lagos, on the order of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu.

It was caught by a team of policemen led by the Area J Commander, Mr Gbolahan Olugbemi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP.

It was learnt that the bullion van had no security escort either in the front or the back as ordered by Odumosu.

This is the third time such van that violated  the CP order would be impounded by policemen led by Olugbemi in the area.

A source at the area J headquarters disclosed that the van arrested yesterday was filled with cash belonging to many commercial banks,  but officials  moving the vehicle had no four mobile policemen as escorts thereby contravening the CP directive.

Attempt to to verify which of the banks owns the money by our reporter was not successful as those officers at the station declined comments.

A police officer who pleaded anonymity said besides the CP order, the action of the area commander in impounding the van may not be unconnected with attempt by lawless bankers from embarrassing the Nigeria Police Force.
