There was a pandemonium in Ibadan on Friday morning as police and taxi drivers clash following the death of a traffic warden.
The officer Oluniyi Bamidele was killed by hoodlums while on official duty on Thursday night.
An eye witnessed told us that several cars were damaged while movement was restricted around the area for some hours on Friday.
Confirming the incident, Oyo state police Command public Relation Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso said a traffic personnel on duty at New Garage Area, Challenge, Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to him ” Preliminary investigation reveals that on Thursday 09/06/2022 at about 2030hrs, a Traffic Warden officer with A/P No. 16860 STW Oluniyi Bamidele ‘m’ attached to the Challenge Police Divisional Headquarters, Ibadan while on legitimate traffic duties was attacked by commercial vehicle operators (Micra) after one of the operators was contravened for serious traffic offences.”
