…Commandant Ayeni harps on synergy

The COMMANDANT NSCDC LAGOS STATE COMMAND, Commandant Ayeni Paul Kolawole MSC MBA ANIM ACIA FCSS yesterday 19th May, 2021, paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), WESTERN NAVAL COMMAND NIGERIAN NAVY, REAR ADMIRAL BARABUTEMEGHA JASON GBASA, in his office at Apapa in Lagos State.

Commandant Ayeni believes that the visit will further intensify, solidify and cement the already existing synergy and collaboration between the NIGERIA SECURITY AND CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS and the NIGERIAN NAVY, in Lagos State.

The high points of the Commandant’s visit include the followings: (i) Synergy between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Navy in Lagos State, (ii) Continuous professional and quality collaboration in order to ensure the security of lives and property and the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure belonging to the Federal, State and Local Governments in the state, (iii) Robust, rigorous and holistic Pipeline Protection and monitoring in the state, (iv) Unflinching military support and cordial relationship in joint operations in a bid to eradicate all forms of vandalism leading to economic sabotage in the state.

The Commandant also seized the opportunity to congratulate the Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo and the Nigerian Navy on the reception ceremony of the hydrographic and oceanographic research vessel, NNS LANA on 17th Monday 2021, at NNS Beecroft parade ground, Apapa, Lagos.

The Commandant informed the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command that the visit was also in line with the numerous charges of the Commandant – General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Phd mni to them on ensuring inter-agency collaboration and applying multi-dimensional approach to finding indelible solutions to the multiple insecurity challenges facing the nation at all levels. The Commandant avows his unalloyed loyalty to the Commandant-General and his mission and vision in placing the corps in its rightful position within the Security Architecture of our dear country.

The Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral BARABUTEMEGHA JASON GBASA, received the Commandant and his entourage with honour and appreciated the Commandant for honouring their invitation for the reception ceremony of NNS LANA few days ago. He as well promised to improve on the already existing cordial and harmonious relationship between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Navy in Lagos state.

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) however, opined that it is important to deal with the bad eggs within the Agencies so as stop them from destroying the good image of our security organizations and the nation at large. He emphasised and affirmed that the NSCDC is a significant force to reckon with in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure and the protection of lives and property amongst others. Therefore, he wishes the both organizations to concentrate on protection of oil pipelines in areas where we have joint operations such as Atlascove and other areas including the Apapa axis in the state.

Finally, the FOC charged the Commandant to continue to do more and he avowed his unalloyed commitment and support to the Commandant to ensure the fulfillment of it’s statutory functions and mandate in Lagos State.
