Bakare, Okorocha, Jack Rich, Mokelu Got Zero Vote

The former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu has beenannounced winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, 2023 primary elections.

Asiwaju of Lagos garnered half of the total votes to beat his major opponents, the former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

About 2,322 delegates from across the country had stormed Eagles Square, Abuja, to elect the flagbearer of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

While Tinubu, who doubles as the National Leader of the party, got 1,271 votes, his major opponents, the former Governor of Rivers State (the unner-up) and the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo (the third place) secured 316 and 235 votes respectively.

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan got 152 votes, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello scored 47 votes while the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi better known as Dave Umahi got 38 votes.

Former Governor of Zamfara State/Senator for Zamfara West and Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate, Ahmed Rufai Sani Yerima got four votes while the first civilian governor of Abia State and former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ogbonnaya Onu got one vote.

Serving Overseer, The Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), Pastor Tunde Bakare, former Governor of Imo State/ senator representing Imo West, Rochas Okorocha, Jack Rich and one time late Abacha Minister, Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu all got no vote to their credit.

Among all the aspirants who procured the N100 million nomination forms, 23 were successfully screened to participate in the primary at Eagle Square, Abuja.

With the current development, Tinubu will face the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and other party candidates to battle for the top political office in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
