The Taraba State Investment and Property Development LTD on Monday said that arrangements had been concluded for the exportation of cucumber to Europe and US.
Mr. Ezekiel Iliya, Managing Director of the Cooperation gave the hint on Monday while briefing newsmen in Jalingo.
Iliya mentioned the companies as, Taraba Gas, Taraba beverages, Taraba vegetables, Taraba Motel and Taraba Oil mills as subsediaries under Taraba investment.
Taraba vegetables, the producers of cucumber was established in 2017 by the state ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
The government in 2018 transfered the management of the farm to Taraba State Investment and Property Development LTD.
The Chief Executive Officer said that Taraba cucumber is all over the Nigeria markets and some countries in Africa.
He said that the demand on the produce was high, adding that the corporation would soon begin exportation of the cucumber to Europe and US.
He said that the Taraba vegetables had created about 3000 jobs.
He also said that the state commercial outfits under his supervision had created 7,000 jobs.
“The corporations have contributed significantly to the economic growth of the state in particular and Nigeria in general.
“Crime became less in the state due to the revitilisation of the same moribund companies which has created both direct and indirect jobs for the teaming youths population in the state.
The CEO also said that the Taraba vegetables which hitherto produced cucumber and pepper, would soon expand it’s production of bitter leaf, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes among others in large quantities.
According to him ‘this is our expansion drive of the investment.
He eulogized Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba for having the vision to revamp those moribund enterprises.
He regretted that previous administrations in the state did little or no effort in reviving those commercial outfits.
He urged the state government to transfer any profit making outfit in the state to the Investment House for proper maximisation of those corporations.
