As part of it’s end of the year activities, members of the Lagos State Barbers Association, Agbelekale, Abule Egba Branch on Friday December 10, 2021 made donations to Little Saints Orphanage, Abule Egba and provided free services for the children of the home.
Members of the association thronged enmasse the Orphanage, located in Ekoro area, to cut the hair of the children living in the home free of charge.
“We normally have our annual end of the year activities in an open space, where we invite children in the area to come and barb their hair free of charge.
“We decided to do it differently this year though we could not hold it last year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
“This year, we prepared and thank God, we were able to fulfill our promise of making the children of the home happy and feel loved.
“Our patrons and matrons have made this gesture possible,” Chairman of the branch, Mr. Babatunde Emmanuel Adeosun said.
Adeosun stressed that the gesture would move the association forward and enable the people know them as professional barbers.
He added that the government could not do it alone, and that the gesture was a way of contributing their own quota to the lives of the children.
Speaking with journalists, Head of Administration of the home, Mrs. Abiodun Juliet appreciated the gesture and thanked the barbers for remembering the children of the orphanage.
“I would like to appreciate the gesture done on us by Lagos State Barbers Association, Agbelekale, Abule Egba chapter.
“I thank them for putting smiles on the faces of the children.
“I pray that God Almighty would bless them abundantly. It shows that they really care for the children, they are in our premises to make the children beautiful and I am happy for that,” she said.
Juliet implored the barbers to keep it up, saying that taking care of orphans, feeding widows, and putting smiles on people’s faces were parts of what God Almighty wanted us to do.
She disclosed that it was the first time such a thing would happen in the home, adding that the barbers were really professionals to the core.
“That’s why I really appreciate them and thank them so well.
“Our orphanage has seven branches, if not for the distance, I would have said that they should visit our male branch because we have only female children here in Agbelekale,” she said.
The administration officer stated that they normally make the children happy with many good things, with the help of the founder and many donors during Christmas celebration.
She said that this year would certainly not be an exception.
According to her, there are three categories of children in the home; abused, abandoned and orphans, while revealing that they had 33 girls in the home
Speaking on why she took up child care as work, Juliet said that she had passion for the work, and that once someone is working for God he or she would he happy.
“If I work in a hair conditioned place I might not be happy at the end of the day.
“But here, I am fulfilled and I am happy with what I am doing. I have lots of testimonies since I have been working here,” she concluded.
The barbers later presented barbing equipments such as clippers, head brush, face brush and covering cloth as gifts to the orphanage.
