Former NUPENG Secretary General, Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, is gone deeper than divers into the high profundity of sleep.
He gave up the ghost at Mount Horeb Hospital in Warri, Delta State, in the early hours of Thursday, 7th December, 2023, around 01:30am at the ripe age of 80 years, after struggling with kidney disease.
Management of Horeb Hospital, and the Personal Assistant to the late elder statesman confirmed the incident on Thursday.
Chief Kokori, who hails from Ovu in Agbin Kingdom, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, shall be remembered for union activism, and his enviable roles in the struggle for the actualization of June 12 Presidential election, believed to have been won by late Chief M.K.O Abiola.

Alongside former Governor of Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo; Alhaji Yanko Yakassai, former Chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum; Ooni of Ife; Olubadan of Ibadanland; late Alaafin of Oyo; Alhaji Asari Dokubo; Alhaji Yerima Shettima; Engr Dotun Sanusi; Elder (Dr) Chief Taye Ayorinde, Baale of Ekotedo; Prof (Mrs) Bolanle Awe and Mr Tunde Fashola, he got his own Awards, “Ekun Oko Abacha and Babangida” beautifully carved Odu’a Award was bestowed on him at 2023 Yoruba National Day Celebration, marking 12th edition of Yoruba Youth Leadership Summit, organized by Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, which was held on Saturday, 23 September, 2023, inside Western Hall, House of Assembly, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State, under the Chairmanship of General Buba Marwa (Rtd).
It will be recalled that His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, was at Mount Horeb hospital to see Chief Kokori, wherein he took care of the entire hospital bills to guarantee maximum healthcare and treatment for the departed unionist and politician of high repute. The Governor also settled the Bills of the 2 other Patients that he met in the same Room with this face of June 12 Struggles.
Unfortunately, the kidney had been badly damaged before the news got to Governor Oborevwori, and after his intervention, Doctors at the hospital did the needful to save the life of Chief Kokori, but to no avail. It was too late. He’s gone!
In fact, he asked me to tell Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to exercise patience over his interest on his health condition to see how far the Hospital in Warri could go before taking alternative step to fly him abroad, when the Governor showed interest to support him.
He was an Elderstateman, Great Politician, Grassroots’ Mobilizer, Administrator per Excellence. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.
